Location
Haliburton Highlands is the idealistic picture of cottage country attracting cottagers from all over central and southern Ontario. Haliburton is only 2.5 hours from Toronto and White Lake is located east of Kinmount along the Haliburton/Peterborough County boundary. A land locked lake with limited boat traffic, water flows into the lake from Fortescue Lake on the east side and exits via a dam on the north side. From there it flows north into Salerno Lake. Approximately 7.4 km long, White Lake reaches maximum depths of 34′, the average depth is 12′. A drawdown occurs in the fall when the lake levels drop. This cover and various structural forms such as points, rock rubble shoreline, drop offs provide excellent fish holding areas major fish species include muskie, large and smallmouth bass and yellow perch.

  • The weeds have been cleared for 50′ radius of the dock and beach

A perfect place to wind down and enjoy nature – well outfitted cottage, and clean!

This place is great if you are looking for a quiet lake to meet friends and / or family to spend time with. There is one two man kayak to use for exploring the lake and also a paddleboard. The cottage itself is clean and stylish well kitted out with kitchen stuff without being too fancy (i.e.still feel like a cottage rather than a fancy house). The lake itself at the end of the cottage is quite shallow and has some weeds that peter out if you go out a bit farther into the lake. The hot tub was a bonus if the evenings are cold and the lake has cooled down. The dock is great for reading, socialising and appreciating the beauty of the lake. There are very few power boats and people seem very respectful.

Perfect get away!

Eight of my closest friends stayed at the stornoway 4 seasons cottage for four nights over the long weekend and we all really enjoyed it. The weather couldn’t have been better while we were there so we took advantage of the dock and the outdoor fireplace as they’re both so spacious and inviting. It was nice to have the peace of mind knowing that if there was any questions or concerns the host was just a text away and always had a speedy reply. There is a dam to the right of the dock which made for some traffic during the day but over all it was a cozy and secluded area. Over all it was a great weekend and would highly recommend staying at this cottage.

Great spot! Highly recommend!

We had a very nice stay at this cottage. It was clean and well maintained and we had excellent instructions and communication from our host. Our visit was in August and the lake was perfect – warm and great for swimming or fishing. We would recommend this cottage for families or larger groups. Thanks for letting us stay in your home.

Lovely!!

Lovely spot! The outdoor fireplace and hot tub were highlights, the cottage was cozy and clean with a pretty view of the lake and the nearby dam. Ross was very helpful and attentive without being overbearing and we would definitely stay again, even in the winter (I suspect this place books up quickly in the summer months). Thanks again for all the hospitality!
